Will the rating system change to Planeswalker Points, too? :P

good question  ??? ... no, we will be old-fashioned using the skill-based rating system also in the future ;D

I'm still not sure how I feel about the PW points, however, a bit when like the rules (DMG on stack) changed, I think this is one of the things we should pick up, though...

Helle

I didn't follow the discussion about PW-points in depth, but as I got it, the main reason was to encourage people to attend tournaments the couldn't have played with the current system without loosing lots of rating. I don't think we have this problem in our league.

On the other hand, rewarding people for playing games will maybe vitalize the league. So it may be rewarding to give it a try.

Hi everybody. I didn't know where to post this so i just did it here. I'm new and would like to participate in the online league, what should I do?
Cheers from Chile  :P

There will be another season probably this year.
Far below the earth
Where the demons hunt the souls of those that sleep
In the city of the Vazdru and the Drin
Where the black flame burns inside the palace fountain.

Vazdru

Season XIII starts November, 1st and ends December, 31th.
Registration will be online in a few minutes.
Donations to price funds are welcome but -as usually- not required; participation is free.
Price-funds is given away to top player (1-64 matches), top two players(65-96 matches) or top 3 players (97+ matches).
Furthermore one first-round bye at next HL Grand Prix in Hanau is granted to top player of season XIII if we have at least 8 participants with 4 matches (or more) each (as soon GP has been officially announced by JKEntertainment - as long no guarantee).

Enjoy!

Next ladder will include lifetime planeswalker rating, invitations to HL Online Championship 2011 based on "old" rating system. Season XIII gives ya the last chance to catch one of the top spots which are actually held by:

1. Nastaboi (winner of Online Championship 2009 and 2010, reigning Finnish HL Champion)
2. Payron
3. marchhare
4. Goblinpiledriver (reigning HL GP Champion)
5. Tabris (reigning [HLL] Season XII Champion)
6. Sturmgott (godfather of Highlander)
7. Helle
8. firestarter (reigning German HL Champion)

on 9th spot btw. MErcator (reigning German Magic Champion)  ;D

Hey,

if possible I want to record as much games as possible from you guys. I think there is a demand for video coverage of our format and maybe the people get to see some other plays besides me ;) And also I try to get some guest commentary on the "show" so. If you guys will participate and settle a match pls contact me.

Vazdru

I'll launch the registration this weekend. I wonder if this experiment works and there are enough participants to start the first online tournament of its kind. But one thing I know for sure - HLL needs a relaunch and a nice price-support should attract those kind of players who participated in season XIV. With better price-support we've had 17 players and 66 matches in season XIV, with no price-support we have 9 players and 7 matches... ::)  If it works i will provide HL-staples for the next season as price-support if the community ask for.

Online tournaments have obv. some advantages and disadvantages compared to rl tournaments. One big pro is of course the cost and time factor for players to participate (no costs / time for traveling) and tournament organizer to launch such an event (no costs for the location and judges, no risk to have a loss).

Hi folks,

it's time to bang the drum for HLL 16  :)

Imo good opportunities to compete with HL-players from other regions and other countries are quite rare. HL Grand Prixs are hard to arrange and just once in a blue moon so the HL players tend to play in their local playgroups - like me.

The HLL online league could maybe offer an opportunity to bring those players together ?!

Looking back to the last 15 HLL online seasons you can recognize that there is some kind of correlation between price support and match count...
that's why i've added a starting fee (Eur 5,55 too much?, should i reduce it to maybe EUR 3,33  ;)) and simultaneously a suitable price support to attract people joining the tournament.

-> with e.g. 32 players winner takes 30 booster, runner-up 14 booster ... -
I don't wanna get rich as tournament organizer but push HL as tournament format a bit, so i tried to calculate the price-support fairly - not even attached a minimum wage for my job  :P maybe you don't like to have booster but some HL cards instead - if so let me know.

Cockatrice offers a nice stage for Magic Online and it is already frequently used for HL battles. Why not use that platform for bigger tournaments?

It would be nice if you can point out the online league to your local playmates and give me a feedback which things make you or your friends not to participate at the tournament (cockatrice/online-gaming, starting fee, prices, standing order of the tournament, time-issues, motivation/HL itself ...??) or even better: just join  :P

HLL Online League could die with this season (or died already with season 13 + 15  ::)) - maybe there can be a restart, i really don't know ... but maybe you do.

I think the biggest problem is the time (it's a huge hindrance for me). When I play at a local tournament I have to reserve exactly one day (mostly 6-7 hours). If I sign up for this league I've to play multiple Sunday evenings. In Magic Online tournaments are held like regular tournaments. When you are ready you've to wait until next round. Round times are fixed. So maybe something like this is possible for us, too. Then one could finish a tournament in one day.
