coldcrow already mentioned Cockatrice in the "Alternatives to MWS" Thread some time ago.
You should really try it out.
The server is stable, if you lose the connection you can rejoin.
If you register on their page you can save your nick and save decks on the server to access them from every PC.
You can watch other players games or goldfish I think you can play multiplayer games (not tested yet).
Best thing its a multi-platform-app tested on both Win7 and Ubuntu no real problems.
The visual-style is a bit "basic" but you can change the background.
For windows there is an installer which makes it pretty easy to install everthing after the installation you can download the sets and pics.
For linux its a bit more difficult but still easy with a small tut on their page.
Didn't tried it on Mac but I think they have a precompiled Version for MacOS.
Would be really nice to see some Highlander games on Cockatrice :)

New version is out, improvements all over and the server is beginning to get popular.
I highly recommend all HL players to try it out and switch from the mess that is MWS to this.
I'm really interested in playing cockatrice. I only hope, that then there are enough players for HL to play ;) At MWS its nearly impossible to find a match...
So I want to jump on that train too.
I´ve tested the program for some time and think its just awesome.
I hope we can establish this as the standard program for upcomming league matches and spread the word about this to get more people in the lobby etc.
Some features worth to mention:
-easy reconnect after a crash (not that many crashes occour but also if you got disconnected from the internet e.g.)
-lobby system which shows running games, friends and make it much easier to find a game
-you can store decks on the server so you have all your decks online and can access them from anywhere
-nearly bug-free and much much less crashes (open minded developers which speak with the community)
-you can observe other games and speak with other spectators/players during the match
-even multiplayer games are possible
-you can simply add the pictures and decks from mws to the program and customize the whole interface

I agree with Tabris Cockatrice is the better alternative.

Downloaded it. I like it, although i'd prefer to make some casual games prior to going to the league with this.
I am right now downloading the program.
You made me curious... especially the multiplayer part sounds fun.
Is there a possibility to customize the programm like MWS?
You can change the graphics if thats what you meant.
Does anyone in the league already using cockatrice?
I've downloaded the file but it seems server is down for about two weeks. I would like to use cockatrice as the features seem much better than those in mws - in particular the opportunity to reconnect to a game ;) @ Mythrandir.
I played a few HL games with it. The server was down for maintenance over the holidays, it's back up again. It takes a bit to get used to it, but it clearly is far more stable and has a working shuffler.
Deck is ready. Now i need some test games before i can use it in HLL ;D

But I failed directly in using it, I thought the Programm could use the MWS Database. But it occured an error, and on the Cockatrice-Website there is no downloadable Card Base.
the program is using its own database, but you can add your pictures and decks from mws via the options (paths).

i've used my 55c.dec straight from MWS and it worked. Perhaps try uninstal and installing the program again.
Well, i've made a couple of matches and it seems fine!
Is there anyone here with connection to the ppl with cockatrice? Because i've got a couple of suggestions.. so here goes:
A) Sounds, i think it's essential. Makes it easier to know when an action is made or someone is talking in the chat.
B) Keywords: in response, eot, thinking (essential, this one...)
Don't know if anyone else thinks this is helpful.
P.S: Also, hope i didn't miss these options in there... but at least i didn't see anything.

Do you mean the Spectators which could talk in the log. The Things they say is written in light red, active Players write in dark red.

The Keywords are already imprinted. On the settings the 4.Point Messages: There you can set your own Keywords and in the chat-log you type STRG+1;STRG+2;STRG+3 and so you write your keywords to the log.
(I know it's not so elegant like on MWS)

I don't dislike cockatrice, it's just a matter of getting used to it.
I just installed the latest version and had a look in the mtg-room. Only found EDH games.
If you want to become a registered user and get this nice small flag next to your name go to www.cockatrice.de (english language) and register. There you can also upload an Avatar and use the board for further suggestions.
